The Magic Pill Paradigm

In my blog post and video, Healing in Layers, I explore my journey to healing the profound problems of my ulcerative colitis. I talk about how new symptoms and reactions have ALWAYS appeared during my treatments, and I associate this with peeling the layers of an onion – with each layer you peel you go deeper and deeper into the root problems.

When you peel off a layer of onion, the scent becomes stronger. This is the same with healing our body! If we heal and peel layers to find the root cause, most people will experience more symptoms when things get churned. Therefore, it can be uncomfortable to remove a layer at first. There may be discomfort with physical or emotional symptoms.

As more symptoms and problems arose while engaging in these treatments, I finally got the message loud and clear:

Don’t just treat symptoms. Treat the entire BODY for deep and lasting healing.

In the blog post and video, I also discuss how Jini’s protocols should be carried out on a physical and emotional level – and how it is truly impossible to achieve full, deep level healing without addressing an emotional part. As Jini says, if you don’t address this level of healing, you have NOT tried their protocols properly!

Well, I’ve had such fantastic feedback after Healing in Layers was released that I wanted to expand on this topic a bit …

What is the magic pill paradigm?

Many of our readers are so eager to start with the physical protocols that Jini offers, but not so much with the emotional protocols. This reminded me of the “magic pill” paradigm that Jini addressed in the past.

Jini explains it this way:

“What happens when people use natural therapies as well as drug therapies: as a crutch or as a magic pill to just make everything disappear? Instead of dealing with all of the mind / body / soul elements that together create a disease or imbalance in the body. The first thing you need to change is your mindset, or your approach, or your paradigm of what real, true health looks and feels like. None of the substances or supplements in my healing programs are intended to be taken long-term and forever. They are powerful tools to rebalance the body while we heal the roots of our disease or imbalance. “

What happens a lot in my opinion (and in my humble opinion) is that Western medicine lets us into this mindset from day one. If you have heartburn, take this; If you have SIBO, do this treatment. There is nothing wrong with treating symptoms, but overall this mentality is a very superficial way of treating symptoms. For me that always rubbed me in the wrong direction – how can you handle something when you don’t even understand / know why this is happening in the first place? Because otherwise, it will most likely just return.

That was when I researched and found Jini, and when I found her, everything clicked. She had in-depth and scientific research to back up her protocols in a way that made sense, to address the real problems that were causing the symptoms.

There is no magic pill or cure.

How to break away from the “magic pill” mentality

I like to remember that I didn’t get my illness from a single thing. It was a combination of things, so of course a combination of things had to be healed as well. My illness was part poor diet, part emotional, part lifestyle, part pathogenic (phew!) So I had to break down, look at every aspect of my life, and make a change in order to achieve a full healing.

Magic pillMany marketing campaigns seem to use a product as a “cure”, but at LTYG we take a holistic mind and body approach – which is why Jini always emphasizes doing all 8 steps in her video 8 Key Steps to Healing IBD.

But here’s the thing: it’s important to follow these steps All at the same time! Because like I said, it’s a combination of things that will treat every aspect of the disorder and result in symptom relief and a long lasting cure.

Also, we are all unique, so this “one pill cures everything” idea would be silly as each of our bodies has a unique formation, a unique microbiome flora, and so on.

Your journey is your own

As great as it is to learn and gain more about your problems, try not to judge yourself or compare yourself to others and their personal healing journeys. A particular treatment may have worked very well on a person, but you cannot tolerate it at all and are very reactive (as I always have been!).

Remember, there is nothing wrong with your body in this case. You just haven’t found your flow yet! It took me YEARS to tolerate certain treatments, and some I still can’t stand. Instead of forcing these treatments to work for me or my body, I simply switched to alternatives that offered the same benefits but in a way that my body could safely handle.

Jini’s trip was very different from mine. Jini’s personal physician, Dr. Juliet had a very different journey than mine – and Jini’s too. Everyone I met who got their IBD cured was just so different. We all started with different circumstances and ended differently, but we all got where we wanted and had to. There is beauty in that! So follow your own path and don’t compare your progress with others.

To take responsibility!

One way to break free from the “magic pill” paradigm is to take responsibility for your own health.

What I love about LTYG is that we make so many suggestions, but they are just that – suggestions. They are ideas and protocols that worked for Jini (as she tested them herself!), But she provided them as a foundation for you to take what you need and experiment until you find what works for you and your body works – that groove and flow I was talking about – to get relief.

Don’t feel the pressure to keep healing if the ___ protocol doesn’t work for you. Maybe the timing or dosage is wrong, or maybe you can’t tolerate it at this stage in your healing. As I always say, start slowly and slowly and then change based on how your body reacts.

Let go of the fear that is holding you back!

Another point I want to make about the “magic pill” paradigm is trying to let go of the fear instilled in you by doctors or others who are pressuring you.

One of the major challenges I encountered when I realized that there was no such thing as “a single magical cure” was letting go of what doctors had made me think. Things like, “If you don’t take this drug, you will never cure.” This planted the “magic pill” syndrome in my head. I had been brainwashed for years that a pill / drug would be the cure and if I didn’t then all hope was lost.

But if, despite my body’s warning, I took it to say NO, it was worse …

At some point I realized that this particular care team that was supposed to be supporting me was instead using fear to see me their only way out. But, deep down in my gut, I knew there were better ways to deal with situations like this.

let goMy point here is, try to take the fear and panic away by trusting your body and your belly. Take responsibility for your own health, do not pass this on to anyone, including a doctor, trusted doctor, family, or friends. You are in charge and still have a choice. Make sure you have people around you who you trust, who respect and value your decisions.

In Jini’s book Listen to Your Gut, she touches on this point several times:

It is very important that you feel empowered in your choice of health care.

Now you might think this is great … but personally I don’t know what to do. I am not a doctor. Here we listen to your gut feeling again! I am currently working on a blog post on HOW to listen to your own intuition by listening to your gut instinct – this is how you can make sure you respect your body and its needs when treating it.

There is a wonderful synergistic relationship that you can have with doctors and health professionals when you trust yourself and your body’s desires.

Address the emotional roots

As you ponder the points we discussed today, make sure that you transform and release what no longer serves you. For me, this was tapping on fear – the fear of letting go of the crutch I felt on certain medications / supplements, the fear of pressure to go through treatments that I was uncomfortable with, or the fear that I would never heal.

Jini emphasizes that in order to unlock the idea of this magic pill, fear must first be released. All of these fears can be tapped and resolved with Jini’s Lazer Tapping course. In fact, the slogan for their Lazer Tapping is “Self-Healing & Empowerment at your fingertips!” And in this case, this empowerment will help us to let go of the “magic pill” paradigm – but also to take our health into our own hands.

You can join Jini for a free session here! Or she designed these mini-sessions to resolve these emotions.

How do you personally control your healing protocols? Have you found alternatives that work better for you? Please let me know your trip (if you’d like) by commenting below!

Until next time – happy healing and always listen to your gut instinct. 🙂
