Teenager with Crohn's disease perianal abscess and fistulaThis reader’s story about her journey with her teenage son is a great example of the tenacity and winding journey that can bring true healing at the root. She has given her permission to share it here because I feel her journey contains numerous details that might be helpful to others. I’ll come back at the end with some more thoughts. Let’s go…

“My son Eric, now 15, was diagnosed in 2021 with moderate Crohn’s disease throughout the digestive tract, starting in the mouth and extending to the sigmoid colon. We started with 9 weeks of exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN). His inflammatory markers went down, calprotectin was still outside the limit of 800. After the iron infusion and starting a regular diet that was low in fiber and gluten and dairy free, he went into a then We started the SCD diet and Dr. Snow’s herbal protocol and he was back to near normal inflammation levels by mid-January.

On February 14th we went to the emergency room and the pediatrician diagnosed Eric with boils. He took 750 mg of Keflex three times daily for 14 days. The bacterial infection on the boils went away, but the pus still came from the area between his butt cheeks and occasionally from the two places under his sphincter that resembled sit bones.

On March 14th, while visiting the pediatric gastroenterologist, Eric was told it was perianal Crohn’s disease with an abscess and fistulas under the skin. We were asked to get an MRI of the pelvis and go to a surgeon to perform a procedure that involves inserting a metal rod into the butt and checking where the holes in the rectum are. The surgeon would perform a procedure to insert hair roots. During this visit, the pediatric gastroenterologist said there were no medications and that Eric should be started on Humira. He scared my son with horror stories. He told him his parents didn’t have his best interests at heart. That the GI needs to advocate for his meds because he can help him… When we got to the car, my son broke down and was crying. The following week I wasn’t in the right mood.

I started looking more intensively for solutions. We didn’t want to do the diagnostic test or the surgery. I found your StrictureHeal protocol and ordered the ingredients. We started with the internal and external protocols. My son’s buttocks area turned bright red and he screamed while we applied it. The abscess between the butt cheeks (as it healed) would leak this bright red stuff from the center of the opening. We silver washed it a few times a day and applied honey overnight which was very soothing. Towards morning it may dry, but if you put a lot of honey in it and cover it with gauze and tape, it will stay moist. His entire area looked very bright red and my son refused to continue. The oral drinking solution caused him stomach pain. We stopped.

[NOTE: Mucosal tissue is extremely sensitive to DMSO and potassium iodide (SSKI), so you need to greatly reduce the concentration of both substances to use in these areas (perianal, genitals, mouth, ears, nose. I emailed her this reminder and she replied: “After receiving your email I went back to the formula and decreased the active ingredients of DMSO and SSKI and added olive oil. That made it doable for my son. He has very delicate skin.”]

A few weeks later I found help on your website and an administrator sent me the link “Perianal Abscess and Fistula – Natural Treatment”. I have read all three entries several times. I purchased the veterinary laser. We take 5 drops of wild oregano oil internally once a day. A cup of fresh garlic cloves with fresh ginger tea. We mixed olive oil with very little wild oregano oil to apply topically to the butt area. We try three treatments a day. First, we work on the open skin area with the blue laser for two to three minutes. I need twice because it’s a big area. Two drops of pus come out. The pus appears old and sticky from the fistulas and the abscess has white pus. Sometimes no pus at all. Then the infrared laser 808 is applied 2x for 5 minutes to the different areas, including those where the skin is intact but you feel the fistulas under the skin that lead to the rectum. We move the blue laser in circles or lines because it hurts if you leave it in one position. I hold the other laser about 1 to 1.5 centimeters away from the skin and change position every 30 seconds. It’s uncomfortable if you stay in the same place for too long.

Eric had seven treatments. We skipped a few treatments because only one was available on school days. The abscess has visibly shrunk. The skin surrounding the abscess is not as hard. The violet skin color turns more into red. The crests at the fistula openings disappeared. If you look closely at the skin you can see small holes. When you touch it you feel a depression. My son didn’t want to hear about injecting anything. After the hospital visit, he suffered a medical trauma. However, just the topical application of olive oil and oregano oil and the oral five drops make a big difference. The skin on the bottom becomes softer. He is still in pain and takes lots of Epsom salt baths. He cleans with silver. For the school day, we apply organic propolis and honey ointment, which has a harder consistency than raw honey. We are overwhelmed, the whole area is healing.

On Thursday he had a check-up with the pediatrician after three laser treatments and the pediatrician also said that it was healing very well. She wouldn’t take antibiotics. There is another appointment at the end of this month with a new pediatric gastroenterologist. She insists on an MRI. I will try to request a 3D ultrasound. Kaisers Permanente is not very flexible. I’m thinking about just paying for it out of pocket. I am waiting for your treatment to treat the abscess and fistulas. The oil treatment does not hurt. My son is pleased with the healing progress and is starting to make plans for the healing process. We got his stool calprotectin level back and it dropped from over 800 to 101 with diet and supplements alone.

He has not taken any medication for Crohn’s disease other than antibiotics once. He has grown about 25 centimeters in the last few months and has reached puberty. I will let you know when the treatment is completed and how long it took. Once the wound has healed, we continue treatment to ensure that everything deep inside has healed. There is a study in Australia using a 900 laser to treat intestinal inflammation.

I am grateful for all your materials online. I have watched many of your videos, purchased your book, and read your website. I like your online shop. You have changed many lives, whether you know it or not. You have changed my son’s life with your information and I am grateful to you from the bottom of my heart.

Update: His stool calprotectin came back and fell from over 800 (which is the highest measurable value of KP) to 101, and he still has fistulas and a perianal abscess. These test results tell me that it is healing well. The new pediatric gastroenterologist ordered an alpha-1 antitrypsin stool test for the first time. It should be below 55 mg/dl, for my son it was 40 mg/dl. I believe it is a marker of inflammation in the small intestine, where my son had 15cm of active inflammation after nine weeks of EEN. Also an indication that according to my research there are no fistulas in his small intestine. I will be contacting the doctor as she ordered the test and has thought about what information she would like to receive.

I will continue the protocol and stay in touch about the healing journey. I wanted to help others. I am so grateful for the support I receive from you and your team.”

I love the way this reader works to treat her son. Remember: When your child suffers from an acute or chronic illness, it is never just about your child. Therefore, I would like this family to further explore the emotional framework and family dynamics – this is crucial for complete and long-term healing.

You can also see how their story highlights a crucial theme in supporting children and teens – did you notice the part where they rejected the medication and went full steam ahead on natural, root-based healing and nutrition, as well as their son? grew by 10 inches and hit puberty? It is crucial that we do not rob our children of their hormones and growth spurts. Doctors used to be very aware of this, and it was one of the reasons why prednisone was originally limited to life-threatening situations. Imagine if she had listened to the tyrannical gastroenterologist they first saw who wanted to operate on her son and give him Humira? Pooh.

Additionally, if parents (or parents-to-be) could be better educated about what creates strong, protective gut flora, we wouldn’t see so many children with gastrointestinal disorders. Ideally, protective measures for the intestines and immune system should be taken before conception. But whenever we can help our children, it is of course better than simply masking the problem and suppressing the symptoms with medication. I know my parents benefited tremendously from my healing journey as their knowledge grew along with mine, so any healing is a good healing. 🙂

The more we can share our healing stories with others, as this woman so generously does, the more people can be educated about all the powerful tools we have at our disposal for self-healing. Imagine how our world would change if people were no longer so afraid of getting sick – and had the confidence and medical tools at home to heal themselves when needed?
