Are you struggling with ingesting pathogens or detoxing? Maybe you find taking anti-pathogens challenging because it causes more negative symptoms?

Today I want to talk to you about “binders” and how, when added to your logs, can help with the negative symptoms of detox (or “death” symptoms).

    But first let’s start with anti-pathogens …

    Anti-pathogens

Many of Jini’s protocols, especially Jini’s Wild Oil of Oregano Protocol, are about consuming some kind of anti-pathogen to clear out the bad bacteria in the gut. Wild oregano oil, olive leaf, garlic – all of these are considered anti-pathogens.

Before starting any anti-pathogen treatment, I recommend reading my blog: Anti-Pathogen Treatment: The Basic Way to Heal Your Gut! There you will learn everything you need to know beforehand in order to better prepare yourself and your body.

I also got a great question from a reader in response to the anti-pathogens post above, and you can find both the question and my answer here: Can I start anti-pathogen treatment during a Crohn’s / Colitis flare?

    Mycotoxins

Here’s the part that a lot of people don’t realize. When we consume antipathogens, they kill the “bad guys” – as I like to call them. However, during this process, mycotoxins are released when the bad pathogens die. It is almost as if it is her last effort to stay in our body! And while we don’t want to be plagued by these bacteria, our bodies are used to it, the microbiome is used to it … so any change causes a bit of chaos.

While these toxins are being released, you can feel sick. I would get extremely sick after taking anti-pathogens which is why I’m sharing a little trick with you today. 🙂

But first let me explain the binders …

    binder

In order to avoid a HERX reaction, which is flu-like symptoms or illnesses that we can feel after taking antipathogens, we need BINDER.

Binders do exactly what they sound like – they bind things together and pull them out! Especially when we react, we usually need a binding agent because it signals to us that we are not properly detoxifying the anti-pathogens. Since the bacteria are dying, we have to get them out. We don’t want them to stay in our bodies and wreak havoc!

As binders work, they grip and pull, creating a vacuum type detox. It’s fantastic because it’s safe for IBD patients. So, while killing bad stuff in your system, the binder reaches in and pulls it out! This will rid you of the symptoms and illness of the Herx reaction.

    BCPH

This stands for Bentonite Clay and Psyllium Seed Shells. These are two widely used binders that work well individually or together. They combine and create the “vacuum” mentioned above. Substances like clay, acacia, chia, or charcoal bind the bad things together and work to remove them. The soluble fiber helps push it out without irritating the intestines. You may have more bowel movements during the detox, but the other negative symptoms associated with Herx usually subside. These are things like headache, fever, flu-like symptoms, joint and muscle pain, sore throat, chills, etc.

Thank god for binders! They were life saving for me and I hope they are for you too! Jini recently formulated a great binder for Imix Nutrition called ColonEaze – they formulated one version for people prone to diarrhea and another for people prone to constipation. It’s not available yet, but rest assured, we’ll post it as soon as it is! ColonEaze consists of Jini’s ideal mixture of the substances mentioned here as well as targeted herbs. For those of you who have been around for a decade or more, you’ll remember a product called MetaCleanse – this is Jini’s version of that product (their factory was destroyed in a fire and never rebuilt).

Here’s the trick I promised to share with you: Below are instructions on how to complete a BCPH shake.

How to mix a BCPH shake:

    * Note: These are only recommendations so make sure you use them according to YOUR body. Use this as an outline to see what works for you, always starting with “low and slow”. This means that you start with a small amount and then work your way up based on your own body’s needs.

Water: 10-20 ounces at least of water. If not all at once, have a drink with the shake and the rest right after.

NOTE: You NEED water for this treatment to work, squeeze out, and properly flush out. Otherwise, it may get stuck in your GI tract as these products are binders and require fluid to pull out!

    1. Start with water as a base in a glass. Glass is best for your mug compared to plastic, and starting with water as the base is best because the products won’t clump to the bottom.
    2. Take 1-2 teaspoons of bentonite clay and toss it in your glass. Charcoal can work well too, but start small and gain weight from there depending on what your body needs.
    3. Take 1 teaspoon of the soluble fiber of your choice. Common options are psyllium husk, psyllium, chia seeds, or flax seeds. However, start small on the dosage and increase it as you see what your body needs. Since I was so sensitive, I only used half a teaspoon of flea seeds * at the beginning – and that was fine with me.
    4. Shake or stir and drink immediately to keep it from clumping or building up!

    * Jini recommends using psyllium instead of just the husk, although a mixture of both (more seeds than husk) can work well too.

And remember, it’s important to use a strong probiotic when using both binders and anti-pathogens, as these will sweep away not only the bad bacteria, but ALL bacteria – including the good ones. You want to replenish any bacteria that have been lost with beneficial bacteria from probiotics, thus resetting your intestinal flora.

I would love to hear from you all! Have any of you tried binders before? Please share your experience with me below!
