My dear friend – EMR expert Jeromy Johnson – is a hot spring connoisseur. He has visited spas around the world and I asked him for his list best hot springs in california.
Keep in mind that we're not talking about the best resorts; We're talking about places where you can get real health benefits. And since Jeromy is electro-hypersensitive, all of these spas are also low-radiation places; which adds to the health benefits! Especially as our world is increasingly saturated with Wi-Fi and cell phone radiation.
Each of these hot springs is clothing optional and all offer hiking and physical training classes. Some are open for day visits or overnight stays. So here we go…
1. Wilbur Hot Springs in Northern California
Jeromy tells me that Wilbur has the best water – full of sulfur and lithium from the geothermal springs!

Wilbur's website has tons of great information so you can really explore all the health benefits, including beautiful hikes through the 1,800-acre nature preserve and yoga classes. They feature a spring-fed swimming pool, an outdoor mineral water flume and a dry sauna.

Guests stay in bright and airy cabins and prepare their own meals in their dining area, allowing you to watch your own diet.
2. Orr Hot Springs
The Orr Hot Springs near Ukiah can be used during the day or overnight. As with most of these hot springs, clothing is optional.

It is a fairly rustic complex on 27 hectares, with various cabins and yurts to choose from:

3. Sierra Hot Springs
Sierra is less than an hour from Tahoe, so cross-country skiing is an option in the winter. Guests stay in the main lodge or can camp on the 600-acre property. There is also a hotel 1.6 km away. The various pools are beautiful, but you can also have fresh spring water pumped into a private bath. Again, clothing is optional.

4. Esalen Hot Springs
Esalen Hot Springs is part of a large spiritual teaching/workshop center in Big Sur; right on the coast between Carmel and Cambria. There is an art barn, a bookstore, various hiking trails, a comfortable lodge and of course fantastic thermal pools:

5. Tassajara at the San Francisco Zen Center
Tassajara is about 2 hours' drive southeast of Carmel. It features a Japanese-style bathhouse with a sundeck and steam room. Hiking, yoga and Zen meditation are possible.

You can stay in a stone room, a cabin or a yurt.

6. Harbin Hot Springs
Harbin is Jeromy's favorite vacation spot north of San Francisco. Harbin is a digital-free retreat with cell phone reception only in the coverage area. It is also clothing optional and there are many hiking options:

Swimming pools:

Saunas:

There is also a steam bath, yoga, body treatments and various wellness offers.
So next time you want to book a healing holiday for yourself, there are a variety of facilities available to suit every budget. Make sure you book body treatments well in advance as they fill up quickly.
