Your story of healing your mind, body and soul
I'm working on the second edition of Listen To Your Colon and had an idea for one new book I think this would be SO inspiring and useful to others! And I want a big part of the book to be personal stories from my amazing readers.
Here's what I'm looking for:
Do you have a story to share about how you decided to listen to your symptoms/illness as a messenger of your highest self? as a message(s) designed to motivate you to make the necessary changes to improve your ENTIRE life? And as you did this, your life expanded, you moved forward, your heart opened, or perhaps an abandoned dream came true?
I want to hear your story about how listening to your body (symptoms, pain, illness) led to a positive, far-reaching change in your life.
It would be so inspiring for people who are suffering to read it! To see/feel how all things can work together for good.
So if you have a story like this and would like me to publish it in a book (under a pseudonym or your own name – the choice is yours), please email me your story.
All selected stories will receive 2 free copies of the book and a gift from me 🙂
You must sign a waiver (no one will be allowed to change their mind after publication), but again, you can use a false name and change information to protect your identity.
Don't worry that you're not a good writer! I have worked as a professional editor for several years and am well placed to correct any grammatical errors while preserving your unique “voice”. I have you.
Your story can be a “big” story or just something small and simple – but meaningful to you.

Here's a story I tell in Listen To Your Colon that gave me this idea:
Stress awareness leads to action
I once went to Mexico with my family (my husband and three children) for six weeks and became severely constipated after about two weeks. After taking the time to connect with and listen to my colon, I realized, “Oh my God, I haven't really been able to relax since we arrived!”
Because that's the type of person I am: I like and need a lot of time alone. I need to lie down and read a book for a few hours – non-stop. I need to be able to take a nice long shower and poke around the house by myself. without talking to anyone or feeding anyone, without settling arguments, changing diapers, etc. I need time alone to be healthy.
Once I realized this, I arranged to spend most days in the split shift area with my husband Ian. He took the kids out for three to four hours every morning so I could be completely alone in the house we rented. When he came back, I was my shift with the kids for the next three to four hours. I'm telling you, within an hour of them leaving the house I would have a bowel movement.
Now it's important to understand that if he had taken the kids for just an hour or two, I probably wouldn't have had a bowel movement. My mind/body needed to know and feel that we had this nice, long time to relax, potter, work on my computer, and do all the other non-stressful things I wanted to do alone. Because that's how my mind/body works and that's what I need. This is why I say that you need to listen to your body and do what you can to give your body what it needs. Every person's body has its own unique preferences and needs.
Later in the vacation, we moved out of the rented house and into two rooms at an all-inclusive resort. Now it was no longer possible to stop the children from running back to the hotel rooms whenever they wanted. So I came up with an alternative plan. While 2-year-old Hugo took his nap, Oscar (8) and Zara (6) watched a video with headphones (no noise, because I need silence to relax). I put them on one bed with some snacks and drinks, Hugo slept in his stroller and I laid on the other bed (alone – at least on the bed!) with my snacks and a good book.
After I took the time to explain my needs to the children while making sure their needs were met, they were quite happy to sit quietly for about two hours and not talk to me or ask me to get up and get something for them. This meant I could relax every day while my husband Ian had time for himself.
Then, after dinner, Ian took all three children to the evening show until bedtime, while I returned to the room alone and was able to relax often enough to have a bowel movement before bed. Or the combination of rest and relaxation times throughout the day, combined with a dose of magnesium/potassium after breakfast, resulted in me having bowel movements late at night when the kids were all asleep.
Of course, my colon understood that this was a short-term, unpleasant schedule and we would both just do our best – even though I couldn't give my colon what it needed during the few weeks at the resort, I still had communication, understanding, and compassion for it. My colon's trust in me wasn't shaken because it knew I was doing my best and would turn things around as quickly as possible.
Once you “get” this concept of collaboration in communicating with your colon, you can extend it to your entire body and you will be amazed at how your life and health improve. Remember that your body is not trying to limit you or shorten your life. Instead, it always advocates for you – it simply has much more wisdom than you. Therefore, you may not always understand why you should go in a certain direction. But if you trust and actually take the necessary, necessary actions, the “why” will quickly become clear and you will be amazed at how your life and self improve. This is why you will hear from many people seeking holistic healing, “This illness is both the worst and the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
Let your body guide you. Find trust and communication with your body again. If it means you have to change your schedule, your job, your lifestyle, then do it! Your body wisdom (working in conjunction with your spiritual self) knows the benefits that await you on the other side of change. All you have to do is take that leap of faith; trust and act.
Of course, I also share similar stories in Listen To Your Gut, but I want this new book to be ALL about the change and growth that happens when we stop fighting our bodies.
When we let go of anger, frustration, despair and victimization and come to the conclusion that our body is actually trying to help us.
What is your story? I’d love to hear it – please don’t be shy and email me!
