In this guided healing meditation, I guide you through breathing and visualization techniques to bring you into a deep relaxation and theta brainwave state.
Each of us has an extremely powerful remedy that is always at hand – it is the body’s own healing mechanism. You can activate this powerful healing tool by imagining or visualizing your desired healing in a theta brainwave state.
There is a fascinating book called “The Brain That Changes Itself” by Norman Doidge, MD, and in it he describes exactly why and how when you deeply visualize or imagine something, The brain (and subsequently the body) cannot tell the difference between reality and the imaginary event.
To give you an example: On page 201, Doidge tells a story about Pascual-Luone teaching a sequence of piano notes to two groups who had never learned piano before. One group simply sat in front of the electric piano keyboard and “imagined” playing the sequence and also imagined hearing the notes played. The other group actually physically practiced the music on the piano keyboard.
“Both groups had their brains mapped before the experiment, every day during the experiment, and afterward. Then both groups were asked to play back the sequence and a computer measured the accuracy of their performances.”
Pascual-Leone found that both groups learned to play the sequence and both showed similar changes in the brain map. Remarkably, the mental practice alone produced the same physical changes in the motor system as actually playing the piece.”
So when we imagine or visualize a healing action or sequence – especially when we are in the theta brainwave state – the brain will implement it without question or hesitation. Personally, I feel that the effects/results are enhanced when “imagining” is done in a deep meditative state (when the brainwaves are in the theta frequency).
Guided healing meditation
The more we imagine a particular event or sequence, the more the brain builds neural pathways or maps to support that sequence – like grooves that become deeper and deeper. This continues until a habit forms or you do it automatically without thinking about it.
We offer a number of different guided healing meditations and sessions in our shop, but I also wanted to give all of my readers the opportunity to experience this healing modality.
Once you are deeply relaxed, you can visualize or imagine what in your body needs healing – be it pain relief, increasing blood flow, wound healing, fighting infection, or stimulating peristalsis, etc.
If you are unsure how to envision your healing, look here Healing visualizations on page 364 of Listen to Your Gut, or listen to one of the other specific/targeted healing meditations to get some ideas.
You can also use this meditation for implementation Dialogue with your body Technique on page 350 of Listen to your gut.
Do this healing meditation every night before bed or perhaps during your quiet time of the day. Do it often until the neural pathways are strengthened enough that you notice the change in your physical body:

An added bonus is the deep physical relaxation your entire body gets into a deep meditative state through daily relaxation.
Enjoy!
ps: Do not play this meditation while driving or doing anything other than lying down.
