Problems with MucosaCalm

If you notice increases in symptoms or diarrhea while taking MucosaCalm, you can attribute your reaction to licorice. However, you need to keep in mind that the glycyrrhizin component of the licorice has been removed from the licorice contained in MucosaCalm. Therefore it only contains deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL).

Glycyrrhizin is the component that “has been shown to kill Helicobacter pylori strains, including those resistant to clarithromycin or metronidazole”. (1)

Anything that has the ability to kill pathogens can of course also lead to diarrhea, as the body flushes these pathogens (and their toxins) out of the intestines. However, MucosaCalm doesn’t contain the glycyrrhizin component of licorice, so if you’re having increased bowel movements, this is unlikely to be the culprit.

So what could it be? From discussions in the LTYG Private FB Group – a number of people discovered they were sensitive to either NAG or Slippery Elm. They discovered this by taking individual ingredients and testing each one.

My assistant Linsy also did not tolerate MucosaCalm when she had extreme allergies and dying (Herxheimer) reactions to almost everything she had used to heal her intestines. So she only used marshmallow root for a while and when her allergies / Herx subsided she started using MucosaCalm again (knowing the ingredients were really useful).

As with everything, listen to your gut instinct! You can only take the individual ingredients that you can tolerate and stick to them.
