My father had strange upper gastrointestinal symptoms for a few months. Compared to my trip (severe ulcerative colitis), he has had a relatively healthy gut most of his life. So we knew something was wrong!
I of course looked at the mind-body component and various supplements, but he had decided he really wanted to move forward with the recommended endoscopy. For him, he needed a baseline to know what the potential problem could be in order to then decide how to proceed with treatment. This was despite my protests as I had read and knew very well the risks associated with these procedures after reading Jini’s e-book “What You Need to Know About Colonoscopy”.
Don’t get me wrong, I never shame anyone who decides to take a test! A little western and natural medicine often helps to understand the causes. However, since I am a fan and staunch supporter of natural methods, I am personally not a fan of these methods. However, I respected his decision and offered him any help I could to support his gastrointestinal system after the procedure.
A few weeks before the endoscopy, my father said to me, “What does Jini say about endoscopy procedures?”
I sent him the e-book Jini wrote about colonoscopies and he was excited to read it, but he wanted to know more about endoscopies. I knew that the same guidelines she had written for a colonoscopy would also apply to an endoscopy – with some modifications, of course. And she goes into a little bit about endoscopies in her book… but I decided to do more research on it myself.
As I read through Jini’s information on this area of the body, I created an experimental protocol with my father…
Before the endoscopy:
- Take Natren’s probiotic powders and swish them in your mouth several times a day before testing – up to three times a day
- Georges aloe vera on an empty stomach during the day and before bed as much as he felt comfortable
- DGL tablets to relieve and control his constant heartburn/GERD (plus licorice root is a mucous membrane remedy to help prepare for the test)
Because Natren can be strong (and I suggested he take larger doses in preparation for endoscopy), he reported feeling a slight tingling sensation in his stomach after taking it. But that’s it! However, every person is different. So start slowly and slowly at first to make sure you don’t have a reaction.
After endoscopy:
- Continue taking high doses of Natren probiotics for at least 3 days
- Drink as much aloe vera as possible – he can tolerate a lot without having any intestinal problems at all (that’s why Georges’ aloe vera is so great!)
- He took DGL tablets for complaints in the upper gastrointestinal tract
- I made him drink lots of bone broth! Again, to calm you down after the procedure and to strengthen the tight connections that make up our gastrointestinal system.
- After the procedure, I also gave him Jini’s MucosaCalm. He took this on an empty stomach, 1-3 capsules at a time. If swallowing is difficult after this procedure, making a tea is another good option. Read on for my Mucosal Healing Tea recipe.
- He also decided to follow an all-liquid, elemental diet for a few days after the endoscopy to further promote healing of his gastrointestinal tract.
- After his body calmed down and he began to recover from the procedure, I had him undergo anti-pathogen treatment (while he continued taking Natren probiotics to replenish the good bacteria). Because if you read Jini’s colonoscopy eBook, you know there’s a whole chapter on how to do it Colonoscopes cannot be sterilized. Yikes!! If you haven’t read this book yet, I REALLY recommend you read it to protect yourself and your family if the decision to have a colonoscopy is on the table. If my father picked up bacteria, fungi, or viruses through the endoscope, I wanted to make sure all of that was eliminated by implementing JIni’s Wild Oregano Protocol.
**Please note that I personally did not think it was a good idea to start using wild oregano oil immediately after the procedure as the body needed time to heal after the procedure. Of course, listen to your own body’s needs!
And here is my tea recipe for those who want to try it. It’s great to drink before bed so it can work its magic while you rest, but it can really be consumed at any time.

Recipe for mucous membrane healing tea:
My theory in all of this was that we need to repopulate the good bacteria and calm/strengthen the area as quickly as possible. That’s why I chose the supplements mentioned above, which I knew could help with both problems.
Another product that is ideal for this is L-glutamine! This and bone broth work similarly, as one of their many benefits is strengthening the tight compounds that make up our stomach, intestines, etc. Read more about the health benefits of bone broths and get Jini’s Healing Broth Recipe eBook for free.
When people have leaky gut, their tight junctions are usually weak! And we definitely don’t want any endoscopies or biopsies to loosen those connections, so I wanted him to get started on all these supplements.
Before or after such procedures, it might also be a good idea to drink Jini’s Absorb Plus shakes, like my father did. These shakes also contain L-Glutamine and many other vitamins/supplements that can help rebalance your gut. It also provides your system with the “rest” it may need after such an important procedure as this.
In addition to nutritional supplements, healing the body and mind is also crucial. Lazer Tapping is really helpful because these tests can be scary for many reasons – and the preparation can be traumatizing. To keep the nervous system balanced throughout, tapping can be your lifeline because as we know, stress affects our bodies. And if you experience trauma afterward, tap again!
I think this session from Jini on Guilt/Blame in Medical Issues could be hugely helpful after a scary procedure or diagnosis as it could lead us to blame ourselves and our bodies. Another great program is Release Emotions in the Gut, which processes all the emotions trapped in our GI system. That alone can help ease issues where a trapped emotion may be living. In this case, you might not need any more procedures after clearance anyway!
And this healing meditation is great for all your nerves and helps you sleep better the night before.
Based on the results of his test, he decided to try all the recommendations I had received based on my experience with gastrointestinal issues. Jini’s home remedies page “Natural Remedies for Achalasia and Dysphagia” also helped a lot. He didn’t have this particular problem per se, but it confirmed what my gut feeling had said – that he urgently needed cranial, sacral and visceral manipulation treatment! He had slow stomach motility and a loose sphincter muscle, which was completely understandable to me given his symptoms. And both could be helped by all of these natural modalities.
That’s why I was so glad I had him take all these mucosal remedies and herbs (including bone broth) to strengthen the tight junctions since the sphincter is part of it. Support with these supplements combined with manual manipulation helped him regain balance.
If you or a loved one are facing a procedure like a colonoscopy or endoscopy, I hope my dad’s story today will help you make the best decision for you and your body – and support it along the way.
