Why use maltodextrin in Absorb Plus?
If you try to follow a bowel rest diet with only whey protein (no carbohydrate component), you will quickly exceed your maximum daily protein limit and still feel really hungry and tired. But more importantly, you are unlikely to gain weight, so you will remain very thin and weak, with little energy and a lot of fatigue.
The main carbohydrate in Absorb Plus is maltodextrin (derived from non-GMO tapioca – cassava root). Maltodextrin is more slowly absorbed into the bloodstream, helping to avoid the “sugar high” and resulting crash that you can get with many liquid shake products.
