We recently tested the pH of the 32 ounce bottle of Bone Matrix and due to the higher concentration of minerals (most products contain far fewer minerals per bottle), the pH at the current concentration is 5.5

As you can see from the table above, it may be a little more acidic than you want to swish your teeth around – it’s more basic/alkaline than your skin, but more acidic than your saliva.
The simple solution to this is: Add 1 serving of Bone Matrix to 1 ounce of water. This causes the pH to rise to 7 – which is alkaline. If you have a shot glass (1.5 ounces), this is the easiest way to accomplish this. Of course, you can also add as much water as you like. I often add Bone Matrix to my water bottle or travel mug.
However, we heard from a reader who took it undiluted and it hardened the soft spots (from tooth decay) on her teeth. My husband has been brushing his teeth directly for over a year and has no cavities.
Here’s another pH scale of liquids and common foods so you can see where Bone Matrix (undiluted) falls on the chart – right between coffee and cow’s milk:

Interestingly, the pH of human breast milk – which contains the mother’s microbiota – is between 7 and 7.4. So again: listen to your gut feeling! Personally, I dilute it in water or herbal tea because I find the taste a bit intense.
