Hello friends! How are things in the morning? I hope you enjoy the long weekend! I returned from San Diego and was immediately busy with activities: basketball games, family hikes, ice cream and pizza night. It was perfect.
It’s hard to believe that the holidays go by so quickly and we’re back in the school year. To be completely honest, my progress has been slow this year. It’s taken me a while to get back into the swing of things – I FINALLY pulled out my 2026 planner last week – and in case many of you feel the same way, I thought we’d wait until we start our Fitnessista Community Detox.

I feel so great after every single round and since it’s been a few months, I’m ready for another round. I usually do some kind of reset every January. Sometimes I cut out sugar and alcohol completely for a month, sometimes I just focus on a solid diet. Since I started implementing this detox regimen years ago, I look forward to it every quarter.
It feels great to get back into the habit of eating (and craving) vegetables and fresh foods, especially after the happy avalanche of holiday sweets and cocktails.

Moderation is my thing now, especially since the days of discriminating against myself are long gone. If I want something sweet or something more indulgent, I eat it and enjoy every bite. It’s been a festive few months and I’ve been feeling a bit sluggish and craving more sugar than usual. Normally at the start of the new year I’m looking forward to getting back to a more *normal* diet. I love kicking it off with a little reboot, and my favorite strategy is this liver-based functional medication detox.
There were SO many of you there last time, so I’d like to invite you to join in if you’re up for another round. The The fun starts February 2ndso you can order your kit now and get started!

Find out more about this 7-day detox here:
– It is a liver-based detox to help your body take a break from digesting heavy foods and potentially help your body eliminate toxins that we accumulate in our environment. It contains functional medicinal ingredients and Ayurvedic herbs to support phase 1 and 2 liver detoxification.
– It is nutrition focused. It includes POWERHOUSE Daily Nutritional Support powder (which I’ve been eating in my daily protein pudding for years and notice a huge difference in how I feel when I add it) and meal guidelines for the rest of my meals. The goal is to NOT deprive your body of nutrients during the process.
– It can potentially help you lose weighttogether with Anti-aging and holistic well-being for the body.
– It’s only 7 days! When I started working with a naturopath (back then! It was like 2010), he had me do a month-long detox that was similar in format (but didn’t include Ayurvedic supplements).
It’s so much easier to do it for seven days and I feel like my results were even better with the added nutritional support. (The first two days are just supplements and smoothies – I usually add some berries – and the third day is adding nutrient dense meals by following their meal guide/template.) It’s also very flexible; Many people skip the fasting days and start the plan on the third day (morning smoothie, vegan lunch, Paleo dinner) and get great results.

The 6 most important ingredients included in the program:
1) N-Acetylcysteine (NAC), which can stimulate the production of glutathione in the body
2) Glutathione, an antioxidant that may support liver healing and detoxification
3) Broccophane, an antioxidant that may improve the liver’s ability to detoxify
4) Alpha lipoic acid, another antioxidant that can improve detoxification
5) Triphala, a triad of Ayurvedic herbs that can support detoxification and digestion
6) Vitamins and minerals that support the body and help fill nutrient deficiencies
Each detox kit contains the following:
Daily Nutritional Support:
This one-stop shop for vitamins, minerals, proteins, electrolytes and antioxidants is the heart and soul of Dr.Cabral Detox. With 15 grams of vegan protein, Daily Nutritional Support provides your body with much-needed energy and nutrients as your body begins to rid itself of toxins.
FM detox:
FM Detox utilizes the latest research in functional medicine and provides the necessary compounds to support both phases of liver detoxification. Essential amino acids, antioxidants, and plant extracts like milk thistle help the body capture toxins and move them to the liver, where they can be metabolized and removed in phase two. Ingredients like dandelion root extract support the production of bile, which makes it easier to eliminate. As a diuretic, dandelion root increases water flow to the liver, which facilitates the excretion of toxins in the urine.
AYU detoxification:
By incorporating ancient Ayurvedic healing traditions that support optimal detoxification, AM Detox helps initiate the detoxification process. Various diuretics transport water to the liver and increase the solubility of toxins. Triphala, the combination of three plants: Emblica officinalis, Terminalia bellerica and Terminalia chebula, has been studied for its role in gastrointestinal health. When used together, this powerful trio is thought to promote the growth of beneficial gut microbes Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus while inhibiting the growth of unwanted strains.

Things I noticed after doing this detox several times:
– As someone who has had gallbladder problems in the past (which I was able to resolve myself), I always like to show my liver a little extra support. I no longer have gallbladder pain AT ALL (I think giving up fake meat helped with that too), and after my first detox I continue to do this quarterly.
– My energy may be a little low on the first day, but on the second afternoon I feel great. I’m full of energy, focused, my skin glows and I feel great.
– Normally it is a very easy month for my cycle. I don’t have cramps or PMS symptoms and have learned that my cycles are best uneventful during the months when I’m more strategic about exercise, sleep, stress reduction, and diet.
– It brings back my taste buds. When I have more sugar in my diet, things like fruit and salad taste more muted to me. By getting things back to basics, my senses are reawakened to what food tastes like and I can once again enjoy my meals to the fullest and be present at mealtimes.
– I don’t weigh myself regularly, but have noticed that my clothes fit better after the full detox. I feel less bloated and inflamed. You can read my recap of one of my first detoxes and the recipes I used here!
This detox is NOT for you IF:
– You are currently suffering from or recovering from an eating disorder. Keep working to improve your relationship with food and your health, and know that I am cheering you on and sending you my love and support.
– You need to train for a strenuous event or maintain a super active lifestyle. On days 1-2, you’ll want to take it easy (walks, stretching, gentle yoga, or nothing at all). If you are unable to do this, you can do a modified version of the detox by eating smoothies for breakfast and lunch and a nutrient-dense dinner at night. Let me know if you have any questions about it!
– You have health concerns that would prevent you from participating.
****As always, consult your doctor before making any changes to your fitness or diet. Honor your body.*****
