Here I’m sharing a summary of the books I’ve read recently and whether they’re worth adding to your collection.
Hello friends! How are you doing? I hope you have a lovely morning. The kids and I go for a hike and then we head back home to continue cleaning out the closet. We make so much mess, but it’s worth it!
For today’s post I wanted to share some of the books I’ve been reading recently. Since the kids went back to school, I haven’t prioritized reading as much. I missed it and it felt good to be back! I tried listening to books while doing housework and that helped this month. To.

Here’s a recap of recent reads and whether I would recommend adding them to your list!

Lies I was taught in medical school
In “Lies I Teach in Medical School,” Dr. Robert Lufkin challenges many of the long-held assumptions of conventional medicine, particularly regarding nutrition, chronic disease, and preventive care. Drawing on his own medical training and clinical experience, he shows how outdated guidelines, the influence of pharmaceuticals, and inadequate nutritional education can lead to ineffective—or even harmful—advice.
Dr. Robert Lufkin explains how many physicians are trained with outdated nutritional guidelines and limited tools to prevent chronic disease, then shares how his own views have changed after years of practice and teaching. It’s eye-opening without being preachy, and in that sense empowering It reminds you not to blindly give up on your health. You are allowed to ask questions, look for the causes and advocate for what actually makes you feel better. 10/10

The millionaire next door
This book completely reimagines what wealth actually looks like. Instead of flashy cars and big houses, “The Millionaire Next Door” shows that most financially successful people lead normal, even modest lives. They are consistent, disciplined, and focused on long-term stability rather than appearances. It’s not about deprivation; it’s about conscious decisions. I found it grounding and motivating, especially as a reminder that quiet consistency usually triumphs over quick, flashy successes. We really reduced our expenses this year and this book really helped me with my mindset about everything. 10/10

Instead of general protocols, Cabral emphasizes understanding individual biochemistry, genetics, lifestyle, stress levels and environmental influences. The book shows readers how functional laboratory testing, targeted nutrition, detoxification, and lifestyle changes can be used together to restore balance and prevent chronic disease. Good spirits
This was pure cosiness and holiday comfort. “Good Spirits” by BK Borison reads like a Christmas romantic comedy that makes you want to curl up on the couch, preferably with a blanket and something warm to drink. It’s lighthearted yet heartfelt, with lovable characters and the familiar reminder that healing, love and new beginnings often appear when you least expect them. This is perfect if you want something feel-good and escapist, and it’s a quick read so you can enjoy it before the 12 Days of Christmas are over! 7/10 just because it’s pure fluff.
From Amazon:
He is the Ghost of Christmas Past. She’s not exactly Scrooge.
Ghost of Christmas Past’s Nolan Callahan plans to haunt this holiday like any other – get in, get out, and return to his otherwise aimless existence as a ghost waiting for the afterlife.
