As you may already know, I formulate the Absorb Plus Elemental Shakes for Imix Nutrition. And those of you who have been with me for a while know that I regularly update the formula as better ingredients become available or new research is published.
Well, I recently made some improvements to the vegan formula (which resulted in a slight price increase). The sprouted brown rice protein in Absorb Plus Vegan was already certified organic, but Imix was recently able to find a supplier for it Maltodextrin from tapioca (cassava) from controlled organic cultivationso that’s the first big upgrade.
The second thing I changed is Increase copper levels to adjust the copper/zinc ratio, I found the Imix QuikPlus Bone Matrix formula to be optimal when researching.
Finally, I Added 50 mcg boron – because it is a powerful antiosteoporotic, anti-inflammatory and antineoplastic agent. Boron also helps wound healing. And significantly improves magnesium absorption and deposition in bone.
Note: These upgrades are currently only available in the vegan version of Absorb Plus, but will be rolled out to the Whey Isolate version of Absorb Plus as we produce new stock. The price of a flavor will only increase once it has been upgraded.
And yes, as many of you have asked, I am always looking for a grass-fed whey isolate (that is also casein and lactose free). So far we haven’t been able to find one. Maybe one day Imix will buy enough whey to require this – and perhaps even to require humane whey from grass-fed animals (where calves stay with their mother for four to six months). At the last big trade fair, Imix’s production manager went to all the whey suppliers and discussed this request with them. A few even took notes! So who knows…we’ll keep our fingers crossed and we’ll keep asking.
