NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as aspirin and ibuprofen cause thousands of hospitalizations and deaths due to gastrointestinal bleeding each year. Fortunately, there are very effective natural pain relievers that have no harmful side effects.
Learn about an effective pain-relieving herb used for centuries by Chinese, Indians and Native Americans, as well as a do-it-yourself acupuncture tapping technique. Finally become pain-free and without harmful side effects.
Why you should only use natural painkillers
According to an August 2005 report in the American Journal of Gastroenterology, nearly one-third of all hospitalizations and deaths related to gastrointestinal bleeding are due to the use of aspirin, ibuprofen or other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). And if you want a more recent case study on the potential dangers of NSAID use, check out this 2015 article from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
You may be thinking, well, I only take low-dose aspirin or baby aspirin, and my doctor told me to take it to prevent heart attacks. However, up to a third of these deaths from gastrointestinal bleeding were due to low-dose aspirin. In real terms, this means that for every 100,000 people who take aspirin, ibuprofen and other NSAIDs, 15 will die from them.
If these odds are okay with you, then go ahead. However, if they seem quite high and disproportionate to the reason you are using painkillers, you may want to look for natural alternatives.
EFT – Acupressure for pain relief for the mind and body
If you need a pain reliever, consider trying both acupuncture and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) if you want long-term results.
Taking a pill or supplement that relieves pain for a few hours is a coping mechanism, but not a solution. You need to find out why your body is in pain and heal/relieve the root or cause of that pain in your body. I particularly like EFT (which involves tapping on acupuncture meridian points) for this because once you know how to do it, you can do it on yourself and don’t have to see a therapist to find relief. EFT is amazingly effective for all types of pain; Back pain, migraines, intestinal cramps, joint pain, etc. For more resources and information on EFT, please visit my dedicated website.
I also invite you to attend a FREE Lazer Tapping session. Lazer Tapping, EFT, TFT and other acupressure tapping methods stimulate the acupuncture meridian points on the body. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) assumes that energy (Chi, Ki, Prana) flows through the body along energy pathways – similar to how blood flows through arteries. Now imagine that this network of energy paths is three-dimensional. to connect every organ, every bone, every cell, every tissue, every atom, every emotion, every belief, every mind and every feeling into a single grid.
The meridians are the paths along this 3D grid or network. And along the meridians there are individual portal points; These are the acupressure tapping points. The acupressure meridians are the connection between the visible and the invisible.
Lazer Tapping is an integrated healing method for the mind, body and soul. Healing, change, liberation or transformation takes place on all levels of the self. We laser focus on individual issues, traumas, memories and beliefs and access where they live or are stored, in the physical body and the emotional body. When we speak loudly, we activate consciousness and get our emotions flowing. We talk about our feelings or memories while tapping important points along the meridians. Through this we connect with our energy body, our subconscious and the traumas stored in the physical tissues and cells of the body.
White Willow Bark – Natural Pain Reliever
Another natural pain reliever is White Willow Bark (from which aspirin was derived). White willow bark was originally used and boiled by Native Americans to make tea, which was drunk to relieve pain. It was also used 2,500 years ago by Chinese physicians, who also used the bark of the willow tree to treat pain and fever.
In the 19th century, Western scientists discovered that the active ingredient in willow bark was salicin, a natural chemical that the body converts first into saligenin and then into salicylic acid. Following this model, German chemists synthesized acetylsalicylic acid (an unnatural molecular structure and therefore patentable by the pharmaceutical company Bayer), from which all pharmaceutical ASA (acetylsalicylic acid) products are made. However, both ASA and natural salicin work in a similar way.
White willow bark relieves pain by blocking the body’s production of inflammatory prostaglandins, which are hormone-like substances involved in inflammation and muscle contraction. White willow bark is also a very effective fever reducer. You can buy it in capsule form and either swallow it or open the capsules, and you can mix the powder with cocoa butter to make a suppository. I do this for children – but make sure to reduce the dosage accordingly.
Over the centuries of use, no contraindications to the use of white willow bark or salicin have been identified. Traditionally, it has been shown to be safer than aspirin and other synthetically produced salicylate-based anti-inflammatory drugs. Cases of serious side effects have never been reported in the medical literature. It is gentler on the stomach and has an overall less toxic effect on the body.
The only limitation on use is that white willow bark should not be taken with aspirin or by people sensitive to salicylates (found in foods such as berries, currants, prunes and raisins). People with gastritis or ulcers should also avoid it or only use it in suppository form. It should not be taken by children under 16 years of age, for the same reason aspirin should not be taken: there is a possibility of Reye’s syndrome developing in children during a viral infection.
I have had numerous people test white willow bark for headaches and all said it works just as well as a medication painkiller. You can take white willow bark for immediate relief and support while learning EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). Once you have tackled the root and cause of your pain with EFT, you will be truly pain-free in the long term and will not need any herbal or medical painkillers.
Detailed information on acupuncture, EFT, and other pain relief protocols can be found in LISTEN TO YOUR GUT, chapters six and seven, and on this website.
