WHY do I still have the “X” symptom?

Have you ever wondered why the “X” symptom keeps coming back? What is your body trying to tell you through these recurring problems? In this post, I want to share with you some extremely helpful tools that can help you get to the root of the problem.

Acupressure tapping

As I went through the various healing phases, I found myself doing private coaching with EFT tapping (on the acupressure points). This has helped me tremendously because from all my terrible experiences with ulcerative colitis I had a lot of trauma within me. This type of therapy has helped me release it in a safe and healthy way so that I could overcome life’s daily hurdles and avoid getting “UC flares” during stressful life events. I no longer feel that I am a victim of this disease or controlled by it.

If you haven’t tried this before, I highly recommend it. Until you do it yourself, it’s hard to explain how useful this can be. It uses the Chinese medicine meridian points on the body, so it’s not just “some strange ghost thing”.

Jini swears by tapping too, and last year she even started her own 4-week tapping course called Lazer Tapping. You can download a FREE session to see the power of this tool for yourself. Choose either:

  • Learn to feel good about saying “no” and setting healthy boundaries
  • Strengthen self-confidence, let go of “I’m not ____ enough”

Symptoms as messages

As soon as I notice a symptom, I ask my body at least one of three questions – what does my body need? What is my body trying to tell me?

Or I wonder THIS third party: What is my body trying to distract me from?

If you don’t know what to do with the first two questions, take a closer look at the third. Put your hand on your stomach ache and ask these questions. You may be amazed at the emotional things that come out of it.

While my mentor always stresses the need to seek medical advice with any physical condition, he shares the following information and it has been EXTREMELY useful to me….

What is this physical symptom supposed to distract me from?

Let this take effect for a minute. This is a strong question. Various emotions, memories, feelings may even come up as you read this. And that’s fine. That’s a good sign. Continue this line of thought with the following question:

What does it not want me to look at, and why is the symptom trying to convince me that the “physical problem” is the real problem – when I know it has emotional roots?

It’s like telling me, “Emotional things aren’t really the problem; This is where the real problem lies. “

The distraction could be trying to cover up a trauma, memory, loss, or something else that was never treated or repressed. But no matter how painful it may be to deal with these emotions and feelings, once I’ve pushed these feelings through and can just LOWER – actually feel, process and accept them – I find this tool a great help in addressing the emotional roots of my symptoms.

You are SAFE throughout the process, but of course if it gets too intense there is no shame in taking a break, walking away a bit, and coming back to it later.

Lean into your body wisdom

If we can adjust our view of the physical and “see through” the distraction, we have access to the positive side of physical ailments or illnesses.

What is the important “message” that tries to get me to receive and accept this disease?

Jini has written many blog posts on the same subject, such as I Get The Message and The Symptom Disappears! and how an abscess can convey an important message.

If we don’t LISTEN to our bodies, our emotions and actually acknowledge them at the beginning, they can get louder and louder in ailments, pains and illnesses – which leads to a worsening of the symptoms. Resistance can play a major role in this.

The emotional work is usually not fun at first – but it’s SO necessary. We can come up with excuses to repress these emotions and NOT deal with them, but here is something important to understand …

Whatever we resist will be STRONGER.

When we choose to resist our emotions, we usually beat ourselves up for not being able to FIX the physical symptoms. But guess what? Ignoring these emotions will only make this symptom more intense. Things are getting worse because you are fighting back!

However, one thing these problems cannot stand up to is gentle, compassionate observation. Observe your symptoms from this angle and do just that – observe. No judgment, no resistance to what is happening.

And would you like to know the good thing about a persistent, dedicated messenger? When the message is finally accepted, the messenger can go and go about his business. Mission accomplished. How wise of us to be open to the message early on.

One way to decipher the true message is to calm my mind and be with my breath. Then I gently ask my body / mind “What should I know now? What important message do you have for me at the moment? “

Instead of TRYING for the answer, as our brain is programmed to do, “I just watch or listen”. I ALLOW the answer to show up when the time comes. If not, that’s fine – next time probably will. The subconscious does not respond to attempt, coercion, or compulsion. Meekness and patience are the order of the day. Answers come at the right time.

“What the mind suppresses, the body expresses.”

Kudos to my mentor Dane Johnson for this absolutely incredible information and to Jini for also strongly advocating the importance of healing techniques and tools for mind / body / soul – and sharing it with so many people. Again, I HIGHLY recommend you download a free tapping session of Jini and try it out for yourself.

Hope you found this insightful and inspiring on your healing journey. What’s your biggest souvenir from this blog? Please leave me a comment below as I really appreciate you and your feedback! =)
